Dear Supporters, We are reaching out this holiday season to ask for your help in expanding The Doula Project’s important work. The Doula Project works to create a society in which all pregnant people have access to the care and support they need during their pregnancies and the ability to make healthy decisions for themselves, whether they experience birth, miscarriage, stillbirth, fetal anomaly, or abortion. The funds we raise will directly increase the number of pregnant people we serve and elevate the profile and scope of the Doula Project. 2014 was an incredibly successful year for us that included: ● Partnering with a new public hospital in NYC to provide abortion doulas to pregnant people ● Partnering with a new birth center in NYC to provide birth doulas to pregnant people ● Partnering with a criminal justice organization to provide birth doulas to pregnant people ● Training 25 new full spectrum doulas and a new Board of Directors ● Providing doula support to thousands...

We are recruiting interns and volunteer full-spectrum doulas to become part of the Doula Project! People who are passionate, caring, and committed are encouraged to apply. Any experience in doula work, reproductive health, rights and justice work, abortion counseling, health service, or personal experiences can be helpful, but isn’t necessary. Many of our best doulas have had no professional experience, but a dedicated attitude and a desire to learn more and be a part of the Doula Project. We strongly encourage people of color, people with dis/abilities, trans* or genderqueer identified folks (especially transfeminine folks), queer-identified folks, people born outside the USA, Spanish speakers, people living with HIV/AIDS, and people of faith to apply. People with flexible/free weekdays are ideal. We are accepting applications until November 25, 2014. The Doula Project is looking for two fall interns to work with us in both clinical and administrative settings. You'll gain hands-on experience as both a birth and abortion doula and participate directly in the workings of the Project. Interns are a critical and invaluable part of the work we do! A new Abortion Diary Podcast is up from DP doula Melissa Madera!

At The Doula Project, we're lucky to work with a fabulous roster of incredible volunteer full-spectrum doulas, and we'll periodically share their work with you here on our blog. First up: an extraordinary project launched by doula Melissa Madera. Melissa is the creator of the Abortion Diary Podcast , an ongoing project that records people telling stories about their abortion experiences.
